BrightSale and Thornley Groves Announce Ground-breaking Estate Agency Partnership

27th October 2008 In a ground-breaking transaction, the first of its kind in UK estate agency, a major traditional estate agency group has formed a partnership with an online agent to market and sell residential property. This would (and has already) create short-term distortions and uncertainties in buying patterns. more...

Economic and Market Fundamentals do not Justify Further Falls in UK House Prices

1st August 2008 The property derivatives market is pricing in a further decline in UK house prices of -23.5% (on top of the -9.6% decline experienced already) by 2011. Such a decline would be more than double the decline experienced in the early '90s correction. In our last market report in April, we followed the derivatives market in predicting a -15% total decline in prices. But now we believe that this market has lost touch with reality and hence we are abandoning it favour of a new prediction based on fundamental analysis. more...

Portal End Game

7th May 2008 The news that FindaProperty and Primelocation are to merge comes hot on the heels of the tie up between HotProperty and PropertyFinder. This looks like the beginning of an end game for the first iteration of the property portal model – where estate agents paid a subscription fee to list properties . The move can surely only be welcomed by cash strapped agents who now have one less subscription to find each month. more...
